A mentor reviews a UPSC Mains answer sheet with an aspirant at a study table.

Beyond JEE and NEET, millions of students and young professionals prepare for exams that shape their careers, from college admissions to government jobs and postgraduate study. Many want a personal tutor who knows one exam deeply. TutorPapa connects such specialists with aspirants across India.

Exams and what aspirants need

CUET (UG)

Domain subjects, the language test and the general test. Students often want help choosing subjects and practising the computer-based format.

CLAT and law entrances

Reading comprehension, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, current affairs and quantitative techniques, with heavy emphasis on reading speed.

NDA and defence exams

Mathematics and the General Ability Test, plus guidance on SSB interview preparation from tutors with relevant background.

UPSC and state PSCs

Prelims General Studies and CSAT, Mains answer writing, essay and optional subjects. Mentors who can review answer copies are particularly valued.

SSC and banking

Quantitative aptitude, reasoning, English and general awareness for SSC CGL, CHSL, IBPS and SBI exams, where speed and accuracy matter most.

CAT, GATE and olympiads

CAT quant, verbal ability and data interpretation; GATE engineering subjects; and olympiads in Maths, Science and Informatics for school students who enjoy problem solving.

Who can register as a TutorPapa tutor

We keep the bar clear and the same for everyone, because parents trust the tutors they find through us. Competitive exam tutoring is specialist work, so list only the exams you have prepared students for.

  • Subject specialist: you must be a genuine specialist in the subject or domain you want to teach, not someone willing to cover anything.

  • At least 2 years of teaching experience: a minimum of two years teaching students, whether in a school, a coaching institute, a college or as a private tutor.

  • Verification: ID verification, qualification verification and a background verification are completed before your profile goes live, along with agreement to our safeguarding policy.

  • Demo lesson: a short demo lesson so our team can see how you explain a topic and handle a student's questions.

If you have cleared the exam yourself, mention it, but teaching experience of at least 2 years remains the requirement.

Mostly online, with home tuition where it helps

Many competitive exam aspirants are college students or working professionals, so online evening and weekend sessions are the most common format. School students preparing for olympiads or NDA sometimes prefer home tuition. You can choose your modes and hours.

How competitive exam tutoring usually works

Unlike school tutoring, competitive exam preparation is often goal-based and time-bound. A student might want twelve weeks of CLAT reading practice, a UPSC aspirant might want weekly answer-writing reviews until Mains, and a bank aspirant might want daily quantitative drills for a month. Discussing the target date, current level and weak areas in the first session helps you plan well. Tutors who share a simple study plan and adjust it after each mock test are especially valued. In your profile, describe the exams, sections and formats you offer, such as full preparation, mock analysis or interview guidance.

How registration works

  1. Register on the Become a Tutor page with your name, mobile number and email.

  2. Complete your portfolio: photo, a short note about you, subjects, classes, boards and exams, city or online preference, experience, qualifications, a demo video link and your availability.

  3. Pass the safety checks: ID, qualification and background verification, the safeguarding policy and a short demo lesson.

  4. Go live: once verified, your profile appears in the tutor finder, and you start receiving student requests that match your subjects, classes and location.

After your profile goes live

Keep your availability, subjects and areas up to date from your tutor dashboard, so the requests you receive stay relevant. Respond to new requests promptly, and agree the schedule and goals with the student or parent at the start. Good communication and steady progress are what lead families to recommend a tutor to others.
