A tutor in India teaches IB Chemistry online at dawn to a student abroad.

International curriculum students, whether at IB and Cambridge schools in Indian cities or living abroad, often look for tutors in India who combine subject depth with flexible online timings. If you have taught IB, IGCSE, A Level or similar programmes, TutorPapa helps you register and receive matching requests from students worldwide.

Programmes and subjects in demand

  • IB Diploma Programme: Maths Analysis and Approaches, Maths Applications and Interpretation, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Management and English, at SL and HL.

  • IB MYP Maths, Sciences and Language and Literature.

  • Cambridge IGCSE and Edexcel International GCSE: Maths, Additional Maths, Sciences, English, Economics and Computer Science.

  • AS and A Level Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics.

  • Support with IB coursework such as Internal Assessments and the Extended Essay, as guidance and comments while the student does their own work.

What these students expect

International curricula reward explanation, application and independent thinking. Students and parents look for tutors who know the specific syllabus and paper structure, use past papers and mark schemes well, and can teach command terms and extended responses. Our article on the online maths tutor for IGCSE and IB explains what parents look for.

Time zones and communication

Students may be in the Gulf, Southeast Asia, Europe, Africa or North America. Clear availability, punctuality and short written summaries after each session matter a great deal to these families. Who can register as a TutorPapa tutor

We keep the bar clear and the same for everyone, because parents trust the tutors they find through us. International curriculum teaching needs specific programme experience.

  • Subject specialist: you must be a genuine specialist in the subject or domain you want to teach, not someone willing to cover anything.

  • At least 2 years of teaching experience: a minimum of two years teaching students, whether in a school, a coaching institute, a college or as a private tutor.

  • Verification: ID verification, qualification verification and a background verification are completed before your profile goes live, along with agreement to our safeguarding policy.

  • Demo lesson: a short demo lesson so our team can see how you explain a topic and handle a student's questions.

Please tell us which programmes and subjects you have taught, for example IB DP Chemistry HL or IGCSE Additional Maths, and for how long.

Mostly online, sometimes at home

Most international curriculum tutoring is online, which lets you teach students in any country. In cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad and Pune, some families at international schools also ask for home tuition. You can offer either or both.

Your demo lesson for international curricula

For the demo lesson, pick a topic from the programme you teach and show how you connect it to exam expectations. An IB Maths tutor might explain a calculus idea and then discuss how a Paper 2 question would test it. An IGCSE Chemistry tutor might teach a concept and then use a past-paper question to show what scores full marks. We look for syllabus accuracy, clear explanation, good use of command terms and a calm, structured online manner. Have a digital whiteboard or writing tablet ready if your subject needs diagrams or working.

How registration works

  1. Register on the Become a Tutor page with your name, mobile number and email.

  2. Complete your portfolio: photo, a short note about you, subjects, classes, boards and exams, city or online preference, experience, qualifications, a demo video link and your availability.

  3. Pass the safety checks: ID, qualification and background verification, the safeguarding policy and a short demo lesson.

  4. Go live: once verified, your profile appears in the tutor finder, and you start receiving student requests that match your subjects, classes and location.

After your profile goes live

Keep your availability, subjects and areas up to date from your tutor dashboard, so the requests you receive stay relevant. Respond to new requests promptly, and agree the schedule and goals with the student or parent at the start. Good communication and steady progress are what lead families to recommend a tutor to others.
